The Sonar Festival, one of Spain’s biggest music events, has just announced its very first names for the upcoming Festival.
Taking place over the weekend of June 17th – nineteenth in the Catalonian capital and Galicia, the Event will see Air as well as LCD Soundsystem on the stages this year with more to be introduced soon.
Of course music is not the only point Sonar is famous for visual art, films, special audio/visual DJ sets and a whole smorgasbord worth of other multimedia based treats taking place all across the weekend.
Sonar is one of Europe’s premier electronic music and audiovisual art event and takes place in the Catalonian capital every June. The Sonar Festival Barcelona has in recent years become one of the world’s most respected electronic music festivals, getting 1000’s of DJs, record labels, artists and music fans to the Catalonian capital every year. This year’s Sonar Advanced Music and MultiMedia festival also has a parallel version in Spanish town La Coruña. Bands that have already confirmed their presence at Sonar 2010 include Roxy Music (Sat 19/6) The Chemical Brothers, Dizzee Rasca. Latest news: Grec-Sonar night. The Sonar event joins forces with Grec festival on Thursday 17th June for a light audiovisual exhibition that will light up the the Catalonian capital night sky with Japanese composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda. Sonar Kids. The 2nd edition of Sonar for Children also takes place this year but has become a individual event taking place 12 and 13th of June which is a week earlier than the Sonar Festival.
