In all of American history, one of the most interesting time spans of population growth was in the years 1892 to 1924. At this time, the Ellis Island immigration facility was in operation in the New York Bay area and serviced approximately 3/4 of all new U.S. immigrants. So many immigrants passed through Ellis Island that it is estimated that approximately 1/3 of all Americans have an ancestor that was processed there. While you may not have been alive at the time, historians often give credit to these people for helping to make America great. While these new immigrants weren’t superhuman, they did have miraculous dedication to their work. The of the new arrivals even began their own businesses that included restaurants, hotels, manufacturing plants and Certified Birth Certificate Translation agencies. Some immigrants went on to make fascinating discoveries or become engineers and scientists. Other people who came through Ellis Island became well known artists and musicians that became known throughout the world. In these and other ways, immigrants and their families have helped the United States to grow and be successful.

During the late 1800s and early 1900s, immigrants usually came to the United States by ship. One these boats, the conditions were almost intolerable and the trip might last a week or longer to cross the sea to get to New York Harbor. After seven days at sea, the boats would soon approach New York Harbor where the immigrants would jump for joy at the sight of the lights of New York. The sight of New York and all of its grandeur was a sight to behold for many of the immigrants who saw that the trip was worth the struggle.

No matter who you ask, everyone that made the move to America has a touching and troubling story and memory. That’s because the journey was difficult. Passengers on the ships endured a miserable environment that at times was atrocious and often stressed marriages and friendships. Of course, there were some married couples who had been married for many years that had even gone as far as to ask for divorce decrees. It took extreme courage to face these conditions in order to pursue a better life in the US. These new immigrants had dreams for a better life that included voting rights, gun rights, capitalism and the right to own property. And over time, many of them did make a better life for themselves in their new country.

Of course, the immigrants that arrived in New York had fears too. Some were concerned about how the government would act once they landed on Ellis Island. Many cried because they feared that the U.S. government immigration workers might reject their Legal Translation and reject their application for citizenship. As you might imagine, the immigrants had traded everything for their ticket to the United States. It is true that the majority of these immigrants sold everything they owned to come. Some were also afraid of what they would find after they left Ellis Island.
