Customs and Buildings
Barcelona is a metropolis in culture and history, so if it is more or less sight-seeing you’re after then you have come to the correct place. Barcelona is most legendary for the fantastic architecture of Antonio Gaudi, whose building are spread out all around the city centre. The most prominent and striking can be observed along Passieg De Gracia where you will find La Pedrera and Casa Batlló . Or head to the Parc Guell which is a wonderful parc designed by the man himself. Nonetheless the most striking of Gaudi´s works is arguably the Sagrada Familia, the colossal, still unfinished temple
Besides Gaudi, Barcelona does present a lot in terms of architectural brilliancy. The Gothic Cathedral in the core of the Gothic quarter is a must-see. Just walking round Barcelona you will stumble upon a feast of fine-looking buildings, and also get away from Las Ramblas, there is so much more to see just 2 minutes either side of this legendary street.
Cuisine
Barcelona has great food, there is no uncertainty about it. You can get anything you want from intercontinental food to Catalan favourites, tapas to fish platters. All you have to do is look around, there are loads of very reasonable restaurants, as well as some very expensive ones. People here eat late, lunch is generally at 14:00 and dinner at 22:00, for dinner it is normally advisable to reserve a table.
Tapas is exceptionally good around Barceloneta, this was formerly a fishing village and you will discover still several quaint small local places where you can get fresh fish tapas for inexpensive prices.

Things to do in Barcelona for Families
Barcelona is a child-welcoming place and there is tons that little ones will enjoy. For example there’s the Zoo in Parc Ciutadella, the zoo is big and will provide a days easy entertainment for children and adults. Or there is the aquarium which is the largest in Europe and is always entertaining.
A different decent place for kids is Poble Espanyol which is on Montjuic, just up from Placa Espanya. Poble Espanyol is an strange place, a village created in 1929 to replicate the unique kinds of Spanish traditional architecture. You will discover lots of craft shops, and activities it is possible to watch such as glass-blowing. There are usually also childrens only activities where you can leave the young ones for a few hours, last time I was there it was stilt-walking! And whilst you are in the Montjuic area don’t miss the magical fountain of Montjuic, a music and light musical.
Adults might well enjoy this greater than little ones but there’s also a chocolate museum near Arc de Triomph which will show you the history of chocolate and end in a store and café where you can rest and have a hot chocolate.
Things to do in Barcelona for Partners
Paris is probably the headquarters of love but Barcelona doesn’t do terribly for those with romance on the mind. There’s the Barcelona beaches, the terraces looking over the streets below, good quality food and awesome wine!
If it’s good weather you could head to Parc Ciutadella which is a sizeable leafy park where you are able to hire pedaloes and go onto the lake.
If that’s too tiring for you then how about going up to Tibidabo where you have a bar which lookes over the whole metropolis. The bar is called Mirablau and is just right for an early evening cocktail.
Don’t forget you could take in the sights in style from your private horse and carriage, they could mostly be found at the bottom of Las Ramblas.
